Taxes
I opened discussions about taxes with random people maybe a few times and all of them were: "WHAT?! You don't like to pay taxes? But how will we have hospitals, education and roads?"
It wasn't the time and place to go into a debate back then and for me this so basic knowledge like language and math, but anyway, this is my response.
To get started with the public hospitals: they are in a terrible state and will always be, because most of the funds are going to other places, when the govt decides it.
And most of the time there are all kinds of perceived crisis that "need" higher priority funds.
That's why we have private healthcare, which a lot of people prefer to pay for, because it's a much better alternative than the health provided by your taxes.
Of course I had my education in a public school, but my education didn't come from the school, it came from books, people that I respect, tutorials on the internet and my own mistakes.
A school is just for generating a pretty useless diploma. The most "useful" part of school is the community of kids your own age, in case you're lucky to have a decent high-school.
Of course the rich people prefer to go to private schools, so again there are better alternatives to the solution than the education built by your taxes.
Today more and more people are home-schooling their kids.
There are private streets and rail roads built by companies and they work really well. The roads are built by construction companies anyway, not by the govt.
If there were no roads made by the govt, don't worry, we wouldn't travel in dirt, we would still have normal roads.
I don't want my money spent on army, bombs or killing machines.
I don't want my money spent on drugs or any other products I don't want, I don't need and I didn't ask for.
So you're telling me that:
- Income Tax
- National Insurance
- Corporation Tax
- Capital Gains Tax
- Council Tax
- VAT
- Excise Duty
- Fuel Duty
- Stamp Duty
- Air Passenger Duty
- Insurance Premium Tax
- Green Taxes
- Gambling Taxes
- Plastic Bag Charges
- Carbon Emissions Levy
- Landfill Tax
- TV Licence Fee
- Congestion Charges
- Sugar Tax
- Now VAT on Private School Fees
STILL isn't enough to fund public services, roads and schools?
Taxed when you earn.
Taxed when you spend.
Taxed when you save.
Taxed when you die.
How is this normal?
What can you do
If you want to help the stray dogs, send your funds to ONGs that help stray dogs, or better yet, do something yourself locally.
If you want to help a cause, find an organization that believes in that cause and fund it. There's plenty.
Don't wait for the govt to solve that problem for you, they are too busy funding wars in faraway places, buying vaxxines you don't need, or building spyware to watch your every digital move.
I really do understand the idea of community and I agree that everyone should contribute for the greater good and support things that are necessary in a society.
But taxes are implemented in a terrible way. Until there's a transparent way of sending my money to be used by the govt EXACTLY the way I want, I don't agree with taxes.

The era of true peace on earth will not come as long as a tremendous percentage of your taxes goes to educate men in the trades of slaughter.

I wouldn't even hate taxes so much if they weren't sent to other countries as a government money laundering scam and actually went towards bettering peoples lives like they are suppose to.

This has been the infuriating reality since the 1950s. Each decade, the amount spent and the corruption has gotten worse. Right now, both the expense and the corruption is so outrageous and in your face that it's hard to emotionally digest.

Can anyone tell me why seniors are taxed after retirement? If you made $100 and $30 went to taxes and you had a pension plan where $5 of that $100 that was already taxed should not be taxed again. It’s bad enough we have provincial and GST taxes. Stop stealing from seniors!
